Stingray News and Summer Vacation Schedule

Item 1. Volunteer to Produce Financial Records for Stingray

A new volunteer has stepped forward to produce financial statements for the Anguilla Stingray Music Programme. She is Mrs. Kathy Haskins who has played a similar role for other Non-Government Organisations in Anguilla. Kathy does not like a lot of publicity and has expressed a desire to work behind the scenes so this is the last time you may be seeing her name on this site. However, this contribution of time and expertise is important to maintaining the accountability and credibility of the programme and I therefore wish to express profound thanks to Kathy on behalf of the organisers and beneficiaries of the programme.

Item 2. Judie Guthrie’s Portrait of Bankie Banx for sale at the Centre

Artist Judie Guthrie has hung her beautiful painting of Bankie Banx on the walls of the Athlyi Rogers Study Centre along with the price tag of US $3000. It is her intention to donate the proceeds of the sale to the Anguilla Stingray Music Programme. Until a buyer comes along, we get to enjoy the Maestro looking on at the action and hopefully continuing to give his blessings to what was partly his brainchild in the first instance.

Item 3. Summer Vacation Schedule Ready: Fundraising in Full Gear

The summer vacation schedule for the Anguilla Stingray Music Centre is now ready and can be viewed on this site. From July 9th to August 17th registrants can enjoy a programme of drum making, song writing, guitar playing, drumming, music education and even parenting support. The fundraising target for delivery of this programme is US $20,000 and this is mainly to meet expenses as most of the artistes are volunteering their time. Your contributions of airfare, accommodation, snacks, supervision and facilitation would all help in the realisation of this ambitious programme for which there is strong demand. To make a donation or to register for the programme, please call + (264) 497 -2878 and be sure to leave a message that can be followed up.
